Oncology (Upper Middle Lower)

Author: Zhang Tianze
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-03-01
Features: Since the publication of the Tumorology in December 1996, it has been widely welcomed by readers across the country, and many institutions have used it as a primary reference book for training oncology specialists. However, over the decade before and after the book's release, with the advancement of medicine and biology, people have gained a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms of cancer occurrence and development. Correspondingly, clinical and basic research has progressed rapidly. In recent years, particularly with the completion of the human genome, the emergence of high-throughput and large-scale gene analysis technologies, and the rise of proteomics research, the study of cellular carcinogenesis has shifted from the single-gene level to an integrated, multi-level, and information-based comprehensive approach, making the study of molecular signature profiles for various cancers a reality. Due to these rapid advancements in fundamental theories and technologies, the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of tumors have been significantly improved. Examples include chemoprevention, tumor markers, targeted therapy, conformal radiotherapy, and the adoption of preoperative chemotherapy for breast cancer as a model for other tumors, all of which have brought revolutionary changes to tumor prevention and treatment, making it necessary to update the content of Tumorology. With these considerations, the idea of revising Tumorology has been strengthened. Indeed, organizing a work of this size, with the goal of being "comprehensive" and "innovative," and written by a large team of authors, is no easy task. Fortunately, we have received extensive support and enthusiastic responses from our peers, and with the exception of a few chapters, the entire book has been rewritten.
