What are the harms of balanitis to our body?

Patient's question:

I have always had the habit of masturbation. Recently, I noticed red spots on my glans, but there is no sensation and it peels off. I suspect I might have balanitis. I don't know if it can be treated and whether it will have any bad effects on my body. I'm not married yet.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, there are small red papules at the bottom of the glans, which may be pearl papules. Pearl papules are clinically considered to be related to phimosis and chronic inflammatory stimulation. They are neither tumors nor sexually transmitted diseases. The clinical symptoms are white, skin-colored, or pale red papules that do not fuse, arranged in one or several rows along the posterior margin of the glans coronal sulcus. This condition does not cause any adverse consequences and generally does not require treatment. You can soak the glans in a 5% sodium bicarbonate solution once a day, for about 20 minutes each time, and then apply clotrimazole ointment.
