Patient's question:
I just had a circumcision surgery and want to know what precautions to take after the surgery?Doctor's answer:
1. Keep the wound as dry as possible after surgery. If urine gets on the gauze, replace it promptly at the hospital. It's more suitable to have a circumcision surgery in winter than in summer, because taking a bath after surgery is much more troublesome in summer.2. Avoid sexual stimulation and fantasies after surgery to prevent the penis from getting erect. Of course, the doctor will prescribe medication to prevent erection, but if you cannot control sexual stimulation, it's still possible for the wound to rupture due to erection, delaying the healing process.
3. After surgery, it's essential to avoid friction in the area. Activities like cycling have a significant impact on postoperative recovery. Generally, normal life can be resumed about one week after surgery. However, due to the high sensitivity of the glans, there may be a temporary sense of unnaturalness, which will disappear around two weeks post-surgery. Normal sexual activity can be resumed 2–4 weeks after surgery.
