Features: The series of fairy tales featuring "Piglet Xili Hulu" is Sun Youjun's main creation from the early 1990s. At that time, the elderly author was nearing his sixties. He had previously written the contemporary classic fairy tale "The Adventures of Little Red Cap" in the 1960s, which influenced an entire generation. However, due to historical reasons, he ceased writing for many years until the 1980s when he resumed his creative work, still at the peak of his fairy tale writing career. The stories of Piglet Xili Hulu are very delightful fairy tales that uphold the author's consistent humorous and witty writing style. Moreover, they far surpass the author's early understanding of "children's perspectives," offering little moralizing and instead brimming with understanding and affection for children. This book is part of the "Little Red Cap Series," telling a series of vivid and interesting stories centered around the adventures of the piglet. These stories are cleverly crafted, illustrated, and filled with humorous and witty language, ensuring that you will smile throughout the light-hearted reading and appreciation. The text author, Sun Youjun, is a writer in China who has been nominated for the International Hans Christian Andersen Award; the illustration author, Qiu Zhao-ming, is an artist in China who has been nominated for the International Hans Christian Andersen Illustration Award.
The parrot lady threw a big red fruit to the piglet, and the piglet "crunched, crunched" ate one after another. The sister of Mrs. Duck bought two baskets of bananas for the piglet and praised him for being a good bodyguard. To deliver a birthday cake to his mother, the piglet was helping the pastry shop owner dump the trash. Mrs. Pig was sleeping in a hanging cradle, but the mouse chewed through the rope, causing her to fall with a loud "bang" from the air to the ground.
The piglet had a dream where he was swinging. "Swish, swish, it's so much fun," he thought, "but my neck is a bit itchy, like there are several bugs crawling on it." He shook his head, trying to the bugs, but they instead clung to him painfully. He had no choice but to open his eyes and found that it was morning, but he wasn't in bed—he was in the wilderness. Green grass was flying past him rapidly from under him. "It's a bit like swinging, but not like dreaming," the piglet muttered, "This is really strange!"
The piglet wanted to see where he was hanging but couldn't turn his neck. Fortunately, the sun quickly peeked out with half a red face, casting a long shadow on the ground. He realized that he was being carried by a huge creature, which was running fast. He asked the creature, "What's the story?"
The story immediately made the children laugh out loud! It captivates children. However, Piglet Xili Hulu was not created just to entertain. He is kind, brave, compassionate, and has a sense of justice. He is foolish in a sincere and adorable way, yet also wise in his simplicity. Sun Youjun has embodied the perfect image of a child in Xili Hulu—perfect, real, and down-to-earth. This book is especially suitable for being vividly read aloud to children.
