Patient's question:
Patient Gender:Male
Patient Age:
19
Detailed Condition and Purpose of Consultation:
Recently, while retracting my foreskin to clean it, I noticed a significant amount of thin white buildup in the coronal sulcus and near the glans penis. When I tried to rinse it with shower water, it was difficult to wash away, and removing it by hand was also troublesome. Could you please advise on an effective method for cleaning this buildup? What precautions should I take?
Doctor's answer:
When phimosis or excessive prepuce occurs, the secretions of the sebaceous glands under the prepuce cannot be expelled and gradually form foul-smelling smegma. Smegma is conducive to bacterial growth, which can lead to inflammation of the glans penis and prepuce. Inflammation at the urethral orifice, if left untreated, may cause narrowing of the urethral orifice, resulting in difficulty urinating. Long-term stimulation of the glans penis by smegma may also lead to penile cancer.
