Is varicocele serious?

Patient's question:

The testicles are very painful, and there are hardened small blood vessels upon touch. When checked at the hospital, the diagnosis was "varicocele." Is this condition serious? How should it be treated? Does it require surgery?
If surgery is performed, will it affect marriage and fertility in the future? Will it recur?
What precautions should be taken in daily life and diet?
I am very worried that any mistakes during surgery could lead to irreversible consequences in the future?
What should be noted before surgery?
I look forward to your reply!
An anxious patient

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele is not an adult disease; many cases develop as early as childhood or adolescence. In the scrotum of a man, there are two flat, ribbon-like structures on both sides, composed of the vas deferens, blood vessels, nerves, and other tissues, which are medically known as the spermatic cord. When the veins within the spermatic cord become tortuous and dilated due to various reasons causing blood stasis, it is called varicocele.
