Features: After witnessing the brilliance of the sun, people often overlook the brightness of the moon, much like how today, while people frequently discuss the Tang Dynasty's territorial expansion, they tend to ignore the prosperity and luxury of the Song Dynasty. Compared to the Tang, the Song was often financially weak in resisting external threats, but the sheer amount of snow-white silver it sent to foreign tribes in tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of taels clearly demonstrated its level of prosperity. During the Tang Dynasty, Chang'an was divided into districts and markets. Commercial activities were confined to the Eastern and Western Markets, whereas the Song no longer had such distinctions and also abolished the Tang Dynasty's ban on night markets. According to Dream of Splendid Splendor in the Capital, the capital of the Song was described as "every transaction involving millions," and "in the bustling areas, the noise never ceased." The lively commercial scene of Kaifeng depicted in Zhang Zeduan's Along the River During the Qingming Festival and the prosperous scenes described in Liu Yong's Ode to the Sea Tide—"smoky willows and painted bridges, wind curtains and green drapes, a zigzag of a hundred thousand households," and "markets lined with jewels, households overflowing with silks, competing in luxury"—all reveal that the Song Dynasty's prosperity and luxury far surpassed previous dynasties. Though "satiated with comfort leads to lust" is a joke, during the Song, it had become fashionable for "warm breezes to fill the air with crisp strings and pipes, as ten thousand households compete in music," "everywhere are towers and red-gated courtyards, with new melodies and laughter filling the air," and "new songs and laughter in the alleys of willows and flowers, melodies and strings in tea houses and taverns." It is no wonder that the art of ci poetry, which evolved from the people to the court, reached its peak during the Song Dynasty. A cultural journey of roots written on the road! Seeking the beauty and refinement of Song poetry in the geography of modern China through travel! If following Tang poetry on the road is an impulse to "dream back to a great nation," then following Song poetry on the road is a journey to seek the "details" in our culture. Traveling with Song poetry is a "beautiful" journey. The best moments in life should be spent on the most beautiful things. Enjoying poetry, admiring mountains, and delighting in nature—what could be more joyful in life? Song poetry is beautiful not only in emotion but also in atmosphere. Each piece reveals a poetic atmosphere of elegance and a free-spirited soul. As we read, we can join them in their journey or sit across from them to enjoy tea. Reading poetry, traveling in spirit, enjoying tea, and chatting—these are the great joys of life. If these can be done simultaneously, it is a delightful and exquisite experience. Now, let us follow the emotional threads of the Song Dynasty's sages and savor the subtle charm and artistic allure that emanate from the landscapes, people, and culture.
