Features: This is a significant novel by Annie Baby, with a postmodern style, mysterious and cool temperament, beautiful and lyrical prose, blending meaning and philosophy, profound and vast. It surpasses the aesthetic and intensity of any of her previous works. The novel features three characters, each with unique personalities and hidden shadows of past traumas. It combines sensitive textual descriptions with an in-depth reflection and exploration of human nature, expressing the emotions and inner thoughts of contemporary urban Chinese people, as well as their confusion in the pursuit and inquiry of love, faith, and the essence of life. The entire book includes eight photographs taken during Annie Baby's trip to Metog, all depicting scenes along the way. The novel tells the story of a young woman, Qing Zhao, who is suffering from an illness and stranded on the plateau, quietly waiting for death. A middle-aged man, Shan Sheng, has just ended his former life of chasing fame and fortune, and the long-suppressed darkness within him awakens. He prepares to go to the isolated Metog to seek out his old friend, Ne He. Ne He is a woman forgotten by the world, with a tragic fate. Along the way, Shan Sheng tells Qing Zhao about his past with Ne He and the extraordinary and perilous landscapes of the Yarlung Tsangpo River Valley. These descriptions unfold like the painful and wandering transformation process of a generation.
