Patient's question:
I am 18 years old and have not had sexual activity, but I have had the habit of masturbation since I was 4 or 5 years old. It has been nearly 14 or 5 years so far, averaging 1 to 2 times a week or 3 to 4 times a month. I don't have any discomfort in my body, except for a feeling of hesitation when urinating. This is why I want to get help:Doctor's answer:
How is urinary hesitation caused:Psychological factors: Psychological tension or panic can cause urinary hesitation, specifically, when someone is nearby, it becomes difficult to urinate normally. Due to excessive tension, the neck of the bladder may become obstructed, and the bladder sphincter and detrusor muscle may not coordinate properly. When the latter contracts, the former cannot relax accordingly, leading to poor opening of the neck of the bladder and the posterior urethra, and the urine cannot be expelled smoothly, resulting in symptoms of delayed urination.
Prostate inflammation: Inflammation of the prostate primarily causes urinary hesitation due to excessive contraction of the sphincter, insufficient or untimely relaxation, and poor coordination with the bladder detrusor muscle. The symptoms and signs of this condition vary depending on the degree of prostate enlargement and the affected lobes of the prostate. Early typical symptoms include urinary hesitation, weak urine flow, narrowed urine stream, perineal pain, a feeling of incomplete urination, difficulty stopping the urine flow, and sometimes urinary retention. When obstruction worsens, patients may experience frequent urination, nocturia, urine leakage, incontinence, bladder distension, and may also have hematuria.
