Features: This book is a work on the culture and lifestyle changes of the Chinese overseas community in Korea. The author employs sociological and anthropological methods. It collects macro background information and micro-life materials related to the Chinese overseas community in Korea. Based on these empirical materials, it systematically explores and examines relevant theories in the study of overseas Chinese and, such as assimilation theory, ethnic economic agglomeration theory, and cultural pluralism theory. Through an empirical examination of the residential patterns, ethnic and cultural identity, occupational attainment, social networks, social action, and future trends of the Chinese overseas community in Korea, it summarizes the Embedded Immigrant Adaptation Model theory. It argues that the adaptation model chosen by the Chinese overseas community in Korea is neither an assimilation model nor an agglomeration model, but rather a distinctive embedded adaptation model. The reasons for this are twofold: first, the exclusion from Korean society; and second, the cultural traditions of their own. This book not only provides reliable empirical materials for understanding and recognizing the current situation and challenges faced by the Chinese overseas community in Korea but also offers a theoretical and methodological example for the study of overseas Chinese and and migration research.
