Patient's question:
I am a student. About 5 months ago, I had orchitis due to incomplete treatment and continued sexual activity. Now, I experience discomfort after sexual activity, with a slightly aching sensation.
I have taken medications like ofloxacin and indomethacin for treatment, but they seem to be ineffective now. I suspect I may have chronic orchitis.
Looking forward to your response.
Doctor's answer:
Treatment of Chronic EpididymitisThe treatment of chronic epididymitis may not always yield ideal results with medication alone. In addition to using effective broad-spectrum antibiotics, local heat application and other physical therapies are also necessary. Local application of berberine or neomycin to the epididymis via iontophoresis can also be considered. If chronic prostatitis is present, it must be treated concurrently. Epididymitis that recurs repeatedly due to chronic prostatitis may be considered for vasectomy before treatment. For patients who experience multiple recurrences, epididymectomy may also be a viable option.
