Patient's question:
Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: The left testicle has severe varicocele, while the right testicle has a slight one! I want to know what is the most advanced, safe, and reliable treatment available? Additionally, can varicocele lead to premature ejaculation?Looking forward to your guidance. Thank you!
Doctor's answer:
Hello: Varicocele is the expansion, bending, and elongation of the pampiniform plexus of veins in the spermatic cord. This condition primarily occurs in unmarried men, with over 95% of cases occurring on the left side, while right-sided cases are rare.Varicocele is caused by chronic obstructive congestion due to frequent inability to achieve sexual satisfaction, most commonly found in unmarried men aged 20–25. Most cases are asymptomatic and are often discovered during a physical examination. Some patients may experience a sensation of heaviness in the scrotum, pain in the left testicle, or worsening symptoms after prolonged standing or walking. Severe varicocele may sometimes affect the testicle's ability to produce sperm.
Varicocele generally has no significant impact on overall health, and most cases resolve on their own after marriage. If diagnosed, it is important to rest, maintain a balance between activity and rest, and actively participate in beneficial recreational activities.
For patients with more severe symptoms that may affect fertility, surgical treatment, such as high ligation of the spermatic vein, should be performed at a hospital. Mild cases may not require any treatment and can be managed with a scrotal support belt to provide support and protection.
Local steam bathing may offer some therapeutic benefits. The medicinal herbs include 30 grams each of Astragalus, Sambucus, and Salvia, along with 10 grams each of Fennel, Notopterygium, and Carthamus. Boil the herbs in water, then use the warm steam to bathe the affected area twice daily for 30 minutes each time. One batch of herbs can be used for 2–3 days.
