Features: With the implementation of the new curriculum plan, research-based learning has been presented to us as a brand-new compulsory course. This is a highlight of the newly promulgated and implemented mathematics teaching syllabus and also represents new opportunities and challenges for mathematics teaching in the 21st century. Research-based learning primarily refers to an in-depth exploration of certain mathematical problems or the study of certain problems that arise in daily life and other disciplines from a mathematical perspective, fully reflecting students' autonomous and collaborative activities. Due to its significant differences from the learning of traditional subject courses, research-based learning is no longer a carrier of a pre-designed, specific knowledge system by experts, but rather a process of jointly exploring new knowledge by teachers and students. This is also a brand-new topic for high school mathematics teachers, one that is worthy of our joint research and discussion. This book provides an initial introduction to the theoretical research on the significance, characteristics, and methods of research-based learning in mathematics, with a focus on discussing and researching high school mathematics research-based learning in two aspects and five themes. Starting from the two aspects of solving internal mathematical problems and applying mathematical knowledge, ten representative mathematical topics in secondary school teaching and thirteen topics in mathematical applications have been selected. Each topic includes background information, case studies of research projects, topic recommendations, research suggestions, and research-based practical activities, conducting comprehensive research on each issue from its connotation to its extension. Through the study of this book, we hope that students will be able to master the research-based learning method and select appropriate topics. Through exploratory learning in the five major themes, students will enhance their comprehensive information processing, holistic understanding, and humanistic spirit and scientific attitude. They will learn to identify and propose problems from the realities and future of social life, grasp the essence of problems, and judge their value; develop the ability to design research plans (including experimental design plans), construct knowledge models, and research and solve problems; and improve their critical thinking and reflective abilities, laying a solid foundation for students' innovative thinking in problem-solving.
