On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country.
Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools (briefly referred to as "Subject Olympiads") are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding textbooks means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed hierarchically according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive principle, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. New: Features novel and engaging question types. It collects the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as innovative ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selects exemplary problems that are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. Emphasizes the ability to generalize from specific examples and apply knowledge to different contexts; focuses on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches; and prioritizes the training of thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
