Features: After the 2006 middle school entrance examination, experts from the new examination research group carefully analyzed and summarized over 100 sets of test papers from various regions. Based on this, they referred to the opinions of experts from the National New Curriculum Academic Examination Question Evaluation Group and teachers involved in question setting and marking across regions. After selecting about 20 sets of the most representative questions, they invited regional middle school examination experts to explain the answers, which were then compiled into this book. Since its publication in 2004, this book has consistently ranked first on the best-selling list of teaching aids from Kaifu Publishing House, receiving praise from readers and attention from newspapers, websites, and other multimedia platforms. Every year, it is recommended by teaching and research sections, schools, and teachers in Beijing, Shanxi, Hunan, and other regions as essential practice materials for 9th-grade students during summer and winter vacations and for middle school entrance examination preparation. Many readers have also expressed their gratitude and anticipation through emails, phone calls, and other means. With the trust of numerous teachers, parents, and candidates, and supported by a strong group of experts, we improved the 2007 edition of the book. First, we supplemented the answers with detailed explanations and hints. Second, the selection process involved repeated deliberation and evaluation, skillfully arranging the questions to best suit candidates' study habits. Therefore, the experts and teachers involved in the selection and explanation of this book have demonstrated great responsibility and enthusiasm, which has put us under unprecedented pressure. We are afraid that any negligence on our part might affect the candidates' preparation and fail to live up to their trust in "Tianli 38 Sets." For this reason, all members of the writing group remain vigilant and strive to make the revised book as helpful as possible to candidates in their preparation.
In 2007, the new curriculum experimental areas will implement the middle school entrance examination in most regions across the country. Experts unanimously agree that the examination questions will adhere to the relevant opinions and spirit of the Ministry of Education, follow the curriculum standards, and feature more diverse subjects, formats, time durations, score distributions, content requirements, and question types, closely linked to real-life situations. The number of innovative, exploratory, and open-ended questions requiring candidates to flexibly apply their knowledge to analyze and solve problems will also increase. Examination questions across regions will be more standardized and scientific. Based on these characteristics, candidates are required not only to practice with questions from their own regions but also to do more from other regions, as encountering various question formats will help them master the basic assessment content and requirements to the fullest extent. As long as candidates study according to the Ministry of Education's middle school entrance examination opinions, curriculum standards, and the assessment content and requirements of their respective regions, and truly master fundamental knowledge and comprehensive abilities, they can confidently face any form of the examination.
It should be specially noted that:
1. All the questions selected in this book comply with the requirements of curriculum reform and are suitable for candidates in all provinces and cities across the country.
2. To help candidates familiarize themselves with various examination formats, the selection of questions in this book has fully considered their diversity.
3. To provide candidates with a deeper understanding of the trends in question setting across subjects, we have included several representative questions from 2005 and 2004 for reference and learning.
4. Considering that more examination regions are just entering the new curriculum-based middle school entrance examination, we have selected 1–3 sets of trial questions with the most distinctive features of the new examination for non-experimental regions to help candidates smoothly transition to the new system.
5. Readers can discuss the content of this book with relevant experts and teachers in the Reader's Refueling Station on Beijing Tianli Examination Information Network (www.TL100.com) and obtain free new examination information, questions, and other resources.
