Features: After the 2006 middle school entrance exams, experts from the new exam research group conducted a thorough analysis and summary of over 100 sets of exam papers from various regions. Based on this, they referred to the opinions of experts from the National New Curriculum Academic Assessment Question Evaluation Group and teachers involved in question setting and grading across regions. After selecting about 20 sets of the most representative questions, they invited regional exam experts to explain the answers and compiled this book. Since its publication in 2004, the book has consistently ranked first on the best-selling list of teaching aids for the "Open Book" series, receiving praise from readers and attention from newspapers, websites, and other multimedia platforms. Every year, it is recommended by teaching research offices, schools, and teachers in Beijing, Shanxi, Hunan, and other regions as essential practice materials for 9th-grade students during summer and winter vacations and for exam preparation. Many readers have also expressed their gratitude and anticipation through emails and phone calls.
With the trust of numerous teachers, parents, and candidates, and supported by a strong group of experts, we improved the 2007 edition of the book. First, we supplemented the answers with detailed explanations and hints. Second, the selection process involved repeated deliberation and evaluation, skillfully arranging questions that best suited candidates' study habits. Therefore, the experts and teachers involved in the selection and explanation of the book demonstrated great responsibility and enthusiasm, which put us under unprecedented pressure. We were afraid that any negligence might affect the candidates' preparation and fail to live up to their trust in "Tianli 38 Sets." For this reason, all members of the book's writing team remained vigilant and strived to make the revised edition as helpful as possible to candidates in their exam preparation.
In 2007, the new curriculum experiment zones' middle school entrance exams will be implemented in most regions across the country. Experts unanimously agree that exam questions will adhere to the relevant opinions and spirit of the Ministry of Education, follow the curriculum standards, and feature more diverse subjects, formats, time durations, score distributions, content requirements, and question types, closely linked to real-life situations. Innovative, exploratory, and open-ended questions requiring candidates to flexibly apply their knowledge to analyze and solve problems will also increase. Exam questions across regions will be more standardized and scientific.
Given these characteristics, candidates are required to not only practice with their local exam questions but also do more from other regions and encounter various question formats to the greatest extent possible, which will help them master the basic assessment content and requirements. As long as candidates study according to the Ministry of Education's exam opinions, curriculum standards, and the assessment content and requirements of their respective regions, and firmly grasp foundational knowledge and comprehensive abilities, they can certainly handle any exam format with confidence.
It should be noted that:
1. All questions selected in this book comply with the requirements of curriculum reform and are suitable for candidates in all provinces and cities across the country.
2. To help candidates familiarize themselves with various exam formats, the selection of questions in this book has fully considered their diversity.
3. To provide candidates with a deeper understanding of the trends in question setting for each subject, we have included several representative questions from 2005 and 2004 for reference and learning.
4. Considering that more exam regions have just entered the new exam system, we have selected 1–3 sets of trial questions with the most distinctive features of the new exam system from non-experiment zones to help candidates smoothly transition to the new exam.
5. Readers can discuss the content of the book with relevant experts and teachers in the "Reader's Refueling Station" on Beijing Tianli Exam Information Network (www.TL100.com) and obtain free new exam information, questions, and other resources.
