Features: After the 2006 middle school entrance exams, experts from the new exam research group conducted a thorough analysis and summary of over 100 sets of exam papers from various regions. Based on this, they referred to the opinions of experts from the National New Curriculum Academic Assessment Question Evaluation Group and teachers involved in question setting and grading across regions. After selecting about 20 sets of the most representative questions, they invited regional exam experts to explain the answers, which were then compiled into this book. Since its publication in 2004, this book has consistently ranked first on the best-selling list of teaching aids for the "Open Book" series, receiving praise from readers and attention from newspapers, websites, and other multimedia platforms. Every year, it is recommended by teaching research offices, schools, and teachers in Beijing, Shanxi, Hunan, and other regions as essential practice materials for 9th graders during summer and winter vacations and for exam preparation. Many readers have also expressed their gratitude and anticipation through emails and phone calls.
With the trust of numerous teachers, parents, and candidates, and supported by a strong group of experts, we improved the 2007 edition of the book. First, we supplemented the answers with detailed explanations and hints. Second, the selection process involved repeated deliberation and evaluation, skillfully arranging the questions to best suit candidates' review habits. Therefore, the experts and teachers involved in the compilation and explanation of this book demonstrated great responsibility and enthusiasm, which put us under unprecedented pressure. We were afraid that any negligence might affect the candidates' review effectiveness and fail to live up to the trust placed in "Tianli 38 Sets." For this reason, all members of the book compilation team remained vigilant, striving to make the revised edition as helpful as possible to candidates in their exam preparation.
In 2007, the new curriculum experimental areas' middle school exams will be promoted in most regions across the country. Experts unanimously agree that exam questions will adhere to the relevant opinions and spirit of the Ministry of Education, follow the curriculum standards, and feature more diverse subjects, formats, durations, point distributions, content requirements, and question types, closely linked to real-life situations. The number of innovative, exploratory, and open-ended questions requiring candidates to flexibly apply their knowledge to analyze and solve problems will also increase. Exam questions in various regions will be more standardized and scientific.
Given these characteristics, candidates are required not only to practice with their local exam questions but also to do more from other regions and engage with various question formats to the greatest extent possible to master the basic assessment content and requirements. As long as candidates review in accordance with the Ministry of Education's exam opinions, curriculum standards, and the assessment content and requirements of their respective regions, and firmly grasp foundational knowledge and comprehensive abilities, they can certainly handle any exam format with ease.
It is particularly noteworthy to mention the following:
1. All the selected questions in this book comply with the requirements of curriculum reform and are suitable for candidates across all provinces and cities in China.
2. To help candidates familiarize themselves with various exam formats, we have carefully considered the diversity of the selected questions.
3. To provide a deeper understanding of the trends in question setting for each subject, we have included several representative questions from 2005 and 2004 for reference and learning.
4. Considering that more exam regions have just entered the new exam system, we have selected 1–3 sets of non-experimental area tests with the most distinctive features of the new exam to help candidates smoothly transition.
5. Readers can discuss the content of this book with relevant experts and master teachers in the "Reader Service Station" on Beijing Tianli Exam Information Network (www.TL100.com) and obtain free new exam information, questions, and other resources.
