Based on a thorough review of the experiences and lessons learned from the previous two editions, we analyzed and selected more than 100 latest middle school exam questions nationwide, compiling 18 of them into this book to help candidates prepare for the exam efficiently and take it with ease.
When using this book, please note the following:
1. Since 1998, when the Ministry of Education's Basic Education Department issued the proposal for middle school exam reform, marking the beginning of the reform, the guiding principles for exam question setting across the country have gradually been unified. Exam questions in all regions are designed in accordance with the curriculum standards or teaching syllabi, reflecting the spirit of quality education. They emphasize connecting with social reality and students' lives, focusing on assessing students' ability to apply knowledge to analyze and solve practical problems. All the questions selected in this book meet the above requirements, and candidates in all provinces and cities can use them with confidence.
2. The subjects, formats, question structures, and scoring systems of middle school exams vary across regions. In terms of subjects, there is a trend of combining almost all content from physics, chemistry, biology, or politics, history, and geography into a single comprehensive exam paper. Some subjects, such as politics, history, and comprehensive exams, are increasingly adopting open-book or semi-open-book formats. To help candidates familiarize themselves with different exam formats, the selection of questions in this book emphasizes diversity.
3. This book is the economical edition of Selected National Middle School Exam Questions for 38 Sets by Tianli, with some overlap with the original 38 Sets by Tianli. It is primarily intended for candidates who do not have time to do many practice questions or face financial constraints. If candidates need more practice questions, they can choose the Selected National Middle School Exam Questions for 38 Sets by Tianli. Candidates in regions not implementing curriculum reform can choose the Selected National Middle School Exam Questions for Non-Experimental Regions by Tianli. However, they can also refer to this book, as the new curriculum standards for middle school exams represent a new direction, and even exams in non-experimental regions will be influenced by them.
4. To better support candidates' review, we invited teachers responsible for setting or grading questions in various regions to provide solutions and comments on the selected questions in the book, based on extensive feedback from teachers and candidates.
5. We have specially invited American experts to record listening tapes for the first nine English questions in this book. The speed of the recordings is slightly faster than the actual exam to better help candidates improve their listening skills. Due to limitations in collecting listening materials, other English questions in the book do not come with listening tapes.
