Features: The new round of college entrance examination (Gaokao) reforms primarily focus on four aspects: examination content, subject settings, examination format, and admission methods, with steady progress year by year. Especially in the past five years, the pace and depth of reforms have significantly increased. In terms of examination content, it has become comprehensive. Previously, both new and old curricula coexisted during the transition period, but by 2005, the entire country adopted the new curriculum version. On the other hand, the annual examination syllabus specifies the assessment content and requirements for each subject, adjusted according to new examination concepts. Regarding subject settings, models such as "3+2," "3+Arts/Science Integration," and "3+Arts/Science Integration+1" have emerged. This year, the English Gaokao includes both listening-optional and listening-included versions. In terms of examination format, in addition to the autumn Gaokao, the spring Gaokao has also been introduced. In recent years, more provinces have adopted independent (self-set) Gaokao exams. Initially, Shanghai pioneered this, breaking the monopoly of a single national exam paper. In 2002, Beijing followed suit. By 2006, 16 provinces had implemented independent, and several national exam papers were also introduced for different provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions to choose from. In 2006, there were a total of 18 Gaokao exam papers nationwide, with variations in question types, quantities, and scoring. Except for the Shanghai paper, all other Gaokao questions were designed within the scope of the national examination syllabus. However, independent provinces set more specific and detailed requirements based on the Gaokao syllabus, using them as the basis for their independent, reflecting the educational characteristics and standards of different regions. Through recent years' Gaokao exam papers, not only can one observe the progress of reforms but also discern the trends and patterns in Gaokao question-setting. In terms of admission, universities have been granted greater autonomy, with more institutions adopting independent admission programs. Some regions are even implementing specialized exams for vocational colleges. Gaokao reforms will continue, and the pace may accelerate, but the intensity will remain steady. Since Gaokao cannot be abolished, as students, it is essential to understand it, adapt to reforms, and recognize the trends in question-setting. Through (Gaokao exam papers), one can directly perceive the evolution and trends of reforms. In light of this, we have carefully selected representative questions from 2002-2004 and all recent Gaokao papers to compile 《New Five-Year Gaokao True Questions and Detailed Explanations》 to meet the urgent needs of teachers and students. This book covers subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Arts Integration, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography, including Gaokao questions from the past five years. In terms of editing, there are a few points to note:
1. Since 2005, all provinces have adopted the new curriculum Gaokao papers. Considering the differences between old and new curriculum materials, especially in mathematics, only a minimal number of old curriculum papers are included. For questions before 2004, only representative and high-quality papers are selected.
2. Since 2004, more provinces have adopted independent. These papers share commonalities under the examination syllabus but also reflect regional characteristics based on their examination guidelines or supplementary notes. These questions serve as references for both their respective regions and others, so all independent papers are included and standardized for nationwide use.
3. In most provinces, the mathematics Gaokao papers for arts and science students differ. However, this distinction is expected to fade soon, so the book no longer includes papers with both arts and science versions. To more intuitively reflect the differences in arts and science mathematics Gaokao and maximize information value at the same price, the mathematics questions are compiled into combined volumes. Questions marked with (Arts) or (Science) are intended for arts or science students only, respectively. Unmarked questions are for both arts and science students, with corresponding answers marked. Thus, the book is suitable for both groups.
4. English Gaokao papers are divided into listening-optional and listening-included versions. The listening-optional section is accompanied by an audio cassette. For convenience, questions from the same year are grouped, with listening-optional papers first and listening-included papers second. The audio for the 2005 questions was read by a native American expert, ensuring clear pronunciation, with repetitions and speeds aligned with actual Gaokao requirements. The audio for the 2006 questions was recorded during the Gaokao, fully reflecting the actual pronunciation, speed, tone, and listening experience, making it more valuable for reference. The recording order on the audio cassette perfectly matches the question order in the book.
5. Most regions examine "3+Arts/Science Integration," with very few testing single subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, or geography. Since comprehensive subject review is based on individual subject foundations, this book includes both single subject and split comprehensive subject questions for physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, and geography to meet students' review needs. While split comprehensive questions differ in quantity and scoring from single subject questions, students should adjust their time management during practice.
6. This book is primarily intended for late-stage Gaokao review, especially after the second round, where students can take full Gaokao papers to assess their preparation, identify gaps, and fill them. Practicing real Gaokao papers also helps students familiarize themselves with the exam format.
7. Most questions come with detailed answers, compiled at the end of the book for teachers' reference in coaching and for students' self-assessment.
