Features: The new round of college entrance examination (Gaokao) reforms primarily focus on four aspects: examination content, subject settings, examination format, and admission methods, with steady progress year by year. Especially in the past five years, the pace and depth of reforms have significantly increased. In terms of examination content, it has become comprehensive. Previously, both new and old curricula coexisted during the transition period, but by 2005, all provinces adopted the new curriculum papers. On the other hand, the annual examination syllabus specifies the assessment content and requirements for each subject, adjusted according to new examination concepts. Regarding subject settings, models such as "3+2," "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," and "3+Arts/Science Comprehension +1" have emerged. This year, the English Gaokao includes both listening- included and listening- excluded versions. In terms of examination format, in addition to the autumn Gaokao, the spring Gaokao has also been introduced. In recent years, more provinces have adopted independent question-setting, starting with Shanghai, which broke the monopoly of a single national exam paper. In 2002, Beijing followed suit. By 2006, 16 provinces had adopted independent question-setting, while several national exam papers were also introduced for different provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions to choose from. In 2006, there were a total of 18 Gaokao papers nationwide, with variations in question types, quantities, and scoring. Except for the Shanghai paper, all other Gaokao papers were developed within the scope of the national examination syllabus. However, independent-setting provinces established more specific and detailed requirements based on the Gaokao syllabus, using them as the basis for independent question-setting, reflecting the educational characteristics and standards of different regions. Through recent years' Gaokao papers, not only can one observe the progress of reforms but also grasp the trends and patterns of Gaokao question-setting. In terms of admission, universities have been granted greater autonomy, with more institutions adopting independent enrollment. Some regions have even implemented specialized exams for vocational colleges. The Gaokao reforms will continue, and while the pace may accelerate, the intensity will remain steady. Since the Gaokao cannot be abolished, as students, it is essential to understand it, adapt to reforms, and recognize the trends in question-setting. Through, one can directly perceive the evolution and trends of reforms. In light of this, we have carefully selected representative questions from 2002-2004 and all recent Gaokao papers to compile the New Five-Year Gaokao, meeting the urgent needs of students and teachers. This book includes subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Arts Comprehension, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography, featuring Gaokao papers used in various regions over the past five years. In terms of editing, there are a few points to note: 1. Since 2005, all provinces have adopted the new curriculum papers. Considering the differences between old and new curriculum materials, especially in mathematics, only a small number of old curriculum papers are included. For papers before 2004, only representative and high-quality ones are selected. 2. Since 2004, more provinces have adopted independent question-setting. These papers share commonalities under the examination syllabus but also reflect regional characteristics based on their own question specifications or supplementary guidelines. These are valuable references for both local and other regions, so all independent-setting papers are included. 3. In most provinces, the mathematics Gaokao papers for arts and science students differ. However, the separation between arts and science papers in mathematics will soon be eliminated. Therefore, this book no longer includes papers with both arts and science sections. To more intuitively reflect the differences in mathematics Gaokao for arts and science students and maximize information within the same price, the mathematics papers are compiled together. Questions marked with (Arts) or (Science) are intended for arts or science students only. Those without a mark are for both arts and science students, with corresponding answers marked. Thus, the book is suitable for both groups. 4. English papers are divided into listening-included and listening-excluded versions. The listening-included sections are accompanied by audio cassettes. Considering the convenience of using audio cassettes, the questions for the same year are organized separately, with listening-included papers first and listening-excluded papers second. The audio for the 2005 papers was read by American experts, ensuring clear pronunciation, with repetition and speed adjusted to actual Gaokao requirements. The audio for the 2006 papers was recorded during the Gaokao, fully reflecting the actual pronunciation, speed, tone, and listening experience, making it more valuable for reference. The order of recordings on the audio cassette matches the question order in the book. 5. Most regions examine "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," with very few testing single subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, and geography. Since comprehensive subjects are based on individual subjects, this book includes split questions for comprehensive subjects alongside single-subject papers to meet students' review needs. Although split questions and single-subject papers differ in quantity and scoring, students should adjust and control their time during practice. 6. This book is primarily intended for late-stage Gaokao review, especially after the second round, for students to take full Gaokao papers. This helps assess prior review effectiveness, identify gaps, and fill in weaknesses. It also allows students to experience the Gaokao firsthand. 7. Most questions come with detailed answers, which are uniformly provided at the end of the book. These are useful for teachers in review guidance and for students in self-assessment. 8. To better assist readers and facilitate student communication, an online service is provided. In addition to sharing problem-solving insights, students can also receive additional test papers and related supplementary materials.
