Features: To meet the needs of high school teachers, curriculum developers, and other education workers for the implementation and promotion of the new curriculum, this issue focuses on a series of problems that arise during the implementation of the new curriculum, with particular emphasis on addressing teaching and evaluation issues based on modules. It analyzes the teaching objectives, content, and various textbooks that have already been published, providing specific and in-depth interpretations of the curriculum standards for each subject through practical lesson examples and practices. It explores how to evaluate students' academic performance in modules through diverse methods, offering typical evaluation plans and tools. The content of this issue reflects both the new research findings of professional researchers and the experiences of frontline teachers in curriculum implementation, providing concrete references and guidance for high school teachers and grassroots education workers through successful case studies. This issue is compiled in subject-specific volumes, including nine subjects such as Ideological and Political Education, Chinese, Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography, and Biology. Each volume mainly consists of two parts: Part one discusses teaching issues, and the second part focuses on academic performance evaluation. The teaching section emphasizes a strong grasp of the subject's teaching, including the following key contents: understanding the curriculum standards of the subject, analyzing the teaching content of the subject, the impact of module-based course structures on teaching, teaching and learning strategies based on modules, including specific implementation and case studies. The evaluation section delves into the understanding of evaluation concepts under the new curriculum, proposing process-based and summative evaluation methods, tools, and techniques tailored to the learning content of each subject, including test papers and forms used in some experimental schools, as well as methods for experimental schools to recognize module-based academic performance.
1. Practicality. Directly addresses classroom teaching and evaluation, providing real-world teaching and evaluation cases for frontline teachers, with strong operability and ease of acceptance.
2. Targeted Approach. Focuses on solving practical problems in classroom teaching and evaluation, serving directly the needs of high school education, with strong relevance.
3. Scientific Rigor. The lead editors of each subject are university teachers who directly participated in the research projects "Research on High School Student Academic Performance Evaluation under the New Curriculum" and "Guangdong Province Basic Education Curriculum Reform Research" funded by the Ministry of Education. The teaching and evaluation cases provided have been tested and proven to be successful.
4. Systematic Coverage. The content covers major high school subjects, with authors sharing a consistent teaching philosophy and evaluation concepts, ensuring coordination and coherence. This not only provides reference value for teaching and evaluation activities in each subject but also offers a great platform for organizing cross-disciplinary teaching and evaluation research at the school level.
This series is a research outcome of the Ministry of Education's project "Research on High School Student Academic Performance Evaluation under the New Curriculum" and the Guangdong Provincial Education Science "15th Five-Year Plan" key project "Guangdong Province Basic Education Curriculum Reform Research."
The implementation of the new high school Chinese curriculum has brought new challenges to Chinese teachers, demanding adjustments and improvements in teaching and evaluation approaches under new teaching and evaluation concepts. To this day, Chinese teachers are more eager than ever for timely guidance to address their teaching dilemmas. In light of this, based on surveys and analyses, we have identified the problems Chinese teachers face in implementing the new curriculum and proposed a series of strategic and directly applicable suggestions and plans centered around the core issues of "how to teach" and "how to evaluate" high school Chinese, from the perspective of curriculum theory and with a focus on teacher operability. We hope that by reading these suggestions and plans, Chinese teachers can effectively improve their teaching of the new curriculum and benefit more students.
Regarding "how to teach," the book first guides teachers to understand the concepts of the new curriculum and the goals of improving high school Chinese teaching. Then, through case studies and analysis, it helps teachers learn how to handle textbooks and design teaching for each component of Chinese under the new curriculum requirements. Finally, to assist teachers in evaluating high school students' Chinese learning, the book aims to provide help in the following aspects: First, it helps high school Chinese teachers further understand the evaluation concepts of the new curriculum, particularly helping them recognize the significance and interrelationships of process-based and summative evaluation, as well as qualitative and quantitative evaluation. Second, it provides teachers with multiple, selectable evaluation plans and methods aligned with the new curriculum requirements for reference and adoption. In summary, through our efforts, we hope to inspire more Chinese teachers to develop interest and wisdom in implementing the new curriculum.
