Features: The subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as "subject Olympiads") are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core content of quality education, which is also the need for future development.
Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools," covering a total of over 200 varieties in seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of variety, quantity, and quality, our Olympiad books are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but also surpassing it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written according to the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; surpassing the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby cultivating interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically arranged, and follows a progressive principle, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and attainable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; multiple solutions, variations, and extensions of single problems are emphasized. It prioritizes the training of thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from famous competitions.
