Features: Cloze is a must-examine item in the college entrance examination. It is a comprehensive test form that fully assesses students' ability to use English. The design of cloze questions in past college entrance exams has varied: some have ten blanks, some have twenty, and some have twenty-five. Additionally, there are regional differences, but overall, twenty-blank questions are more common. The format of cloze questions involves deleting some words from a short passage and requiring students to choose answers based on the content, organization, and linguistic features of the entire passage or paragraph. Students must comprehensively consider the problem, integrate their vocabulary, grammar knowledge, and life to accurately select answers, ensuring that the completed passage is not only grammatically correct and appropriately worded but also coherent, well-structured, consistent, and ultimately restores the original form of the passage. Therefore, cloze questions are more challenging than other types and are one of the most difficult and challenging question types for students. To help students familiarize themselves with the characteristics of this question type, master problem-solving methods and techniques, and meet the requirements of the newly promulgated English curriculum standards for students taking the college entrance examination, we have compiled this book, "180 Cloze Exercises for Senior High School English," for the use of high school students and teachers. The selected passages include some of the latest popular science articles, some of the latest exam questions from various regions, and some articles on history, geography, culture, and personalities, aiming to provide rich and diverse content with moderate difficulty. Chinese annotations are provided for new words in the text. The distribution of blanks is designed to be scientific and reasonable, requiring the filling of words mainly including verbs or phrasal verbs with various tenses, voices, and usage differences; nouns and prepositions; adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, and conjunctions that must be filled according to the context and structure; and synonyms, near-synonyms, and other easily confused words. The focus is on testing real words, while also considering function words and grammatical structures. The difficulty lies in making correct judgments about word usage based on the context. This book is suitable for all high school grades and will be of great help to students preparing for the college entrance examination. Students can choose to use it based on their actual needs.
