Features: This reference book, combining the functions of an anthology, commentary, and lookup, has become a valuable tool for students and literature enthusiasts due to its collection of the essence of Chinese literature, as well as its clear and accessible explanations and rich references. To meet the needs of readers with different cultural backgrounds, this compact series of literary appreciation dictionaries is derived from the original dictionary, selecting outstanding works, retaining some appendices, and being newly compiled. This book includes 324 poems by 187 poets from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, arranged chronologically by the birth years of the authors. Generally, each poem is accompanied by a separate commentary, though some works are discussed together. The book uses simplified characters, with traditional characters or variant characters used when necessary to avoid ambiguity. Difficult or ambiguous phrases in the poems are usually explained within the commentary, with occasional notes added at the end for specific cases. Historical dates related to ancient history are generally presented in the old calendar system, with corresponding Gregorian dates included as annotations. The Gregorian dates in parentheses usually omit the word "year."
