The fruitful achievements in fu poetry creation and research are all extremely valuable literary and cultural heritage of our country, requiring exploration, summary, promotion, and development to advance the in-depth study of fu poetry in the current era and promote the cultural construction of China and the world in the new era. The plan to compile this dictionary originated from the first International Conference on Fu Studies in Jinan in 1990 and, after three years of effort, has finally been accomplished.
