Features: This dictionary is primarily a linguistic dictionary focusing on modern Chinese vocabulary, mainly intended for middle and primary school students and readers with a medium level of education. The dictionary includes approximately 32,000 entries, comprising characters, words, phrases, idioms, and set phrases. Among these, there are about 8,100 single-character entries (excluding traditional characters and variant forms). The dictionary primarily features commonly used modern Chinese words and phrases, with a limited inclusion of dialectal terms, early vernacular expressions, and ancient Chinese vocabulary that are frequently encountered. Terms from natural and social sciences are excluded unless they have a linguistic meaning. The definitions strive for accuracy and stability, using clear and concise language. Attention is paid to the correct part of speech, enabling readers to determine the word class through the definitions. After the definition of a single character, as many words, phrases, idioms, or set phrases composed of that character as possible are listed to enrich readers' vocabulary, teach them word formation, and help them grasp the semantic components (single-character meanings) within the words. After the definitions of single characters and compound words, as many standardized example sentences as possible are provided to enable readers to fully understand the word meanings and learn their usage. Appropriate explanatory notes or text are added in the annotations or at the end of the entries to remind readers of correct or incorrect character forms, pronunciations, and certain special usages.
