Features: This book is the outcome of the sub-project "Innovation and Practice in Applied Talent Cultivation" under the National Planning Project of the 15th Five-Year Plan in Educational Science. It is a revised version of the first edition, which won the Second Prize of the Excellent Teaching Material Award from the State Education Commission. The name "Zhu Zhiguang" is a collective pseudonym for the writing team of the book (including Li Gaibo, Li Zuozhou, Wang Zidu, Ke Jinxing, Zeng Qingfu, Chen Lingcao, Zeng Yi, Zhuang Meiyin, Yi Zhengxiang, Fang Qiang, etc.), and it was commissioned by Zhu Zhiguang. The revision of this edition was carried out by Yi Zhengxiang and Li Zuozhou. The revised edition retains the strengths of the original book. The content includes:
- Motion of a Point Mass, Time and Space
- Force, Momentum and Energy
- Rigid Body Rotation about a Fixed Axis
- Molecular Kinetic Theory of Gases
- Fundamentals of Thermodynamics
- Electrostatic Fields
- Steady Magnetic Fields
- Electromagnetic Induction and Electromagnetic Fields
- Fundamentals of Vibrations
- Fundamentals of Wave Mechanics
- Wave Optics, Waves and Particles, etc. (A total of twelve chapters and an appendix).
The book is appropriately selected in terms of content, concise in presentation, with moderate depth and breadth requirements, clear physical concepts, and a teaching system arranged with certain distinctive features. Each section begins with preview points and concludes with exercises. Discussion reference questions and self-assessment questions are compiled after each major part. Additionally, a teacher's manual, audio-visual teaching CD, and student learning guide book (separately published) are provided as supplementary materials. The teacher's manual includes detailed solutions to all types of questions in the book, making teaching and learning more convenient.
The book also includes supplementary reading materials for students, introducing cutting-edge knowledge in physics closely related to modern high-tech fields, aiming to broaden students' horizons and stimulate their interest in learning. This book can serve as a textbook for university physics courses for science and engineering majors in higher education institutions, with a recommended teaching time of 70–90 hours. It is also suitable for use in vocational colleges, higher vocational colleges, adult colleges, and as a reference for relevant science and technology professionals.
