Features: Outline of the History of Chinese Education is a university-level textbook for primary education majors, designed to complement Outline of the History of Foreign Education. It serves the important roles of imparting fundamental knowledge of the history of Chinese education to students, cultivating their academic and theoretical literacy in education, and laying a foundation for enhancing their ability to engage in educational work. Since the primary readers of this textbook are future primary school teachers, the writing process adhered to the basic norms of general education history textbooks while also following the guidance of dialectical materialism and historical materialism, striving to reflect the spirit of the times. The educational history of the Chinese nation is long-standing and profound. Considering the special circumstances of the textbook's readers and time constraints, we made every effort to highlight the long and winding course of Chinese educational development, its fundamental threads, and its characteristics. For instance, when discussing educational systems, we focused more on the general overview of general education, and when exploring educators and educational thought, we paid attention to early childhood and primary education. The textbook also strives to embody the principles of combining historical analysis with theoretical discussion, deriving arguments from historical context, and integrating scientific rigor with ideological depth. It adopts a hybrid approach of comprehensive and specialized histories, ensuring that the historical development of educational facts is clearly presented in chronological order while maintaining consistency between history and logic, without becoming overly lengthy, convoluted, or fragmented. Instead, it provides a thorough and concentrated interpretation of educational systems and thought. This approach allows students to gain a clearer understanding and grasp of the history of Chinese education, particularly the history of primary and secondary education. In our discussions, we aimed for simplicity and clarity, avoiding overly academic language to enhance the readability of the textbook.
