What should I do if I discover Down syndrome?

Patient's question:

Child love, outer canthus slanted, wide eye distance. After a careful examination, it was found to be Down syndrome. The diagnosis has been made for a long time, but no good place has been found for treatment. Where is it better to treat children with Down syndrome? How is Down syndrome best treated?

Doctor's answer:

If there is a recurrence of high-risk conditions, it is best to undergo an amniocentesis to confirm. If it is indeed Trisomy 21, the child's early life will be burdened beyond this family. Currently, amniocentesis is the only option. Amniocentesis carries a relatively high risk, and it is usually performed only after a thorough blood test indicates high-risk conditions. This is also a sufficient measure to protect the safety of low-risk patients. High risk does not necessarily mean this disease; amniocentesis is quite accurate. Down syndrome poses significant harm to the child. Once the mother notices the child's symptoms, she should immediately take the child to a regular hospital for diagnosis, while also paying close attention to the child's dietary issues.
