Features: This book is compiled based on the basic requirements for the physics laboratory course teaching in undergraduate engineering programs of higher education institutions, combined with the current teaching situations and equipment conditions in higher education institutions. It particularly takes into account the reality of large-scale updates and renovations of physics laboratory equipment funded by the World Bank, as well as the achievements in recent reforms of physics laboratory teaching. The book includes: Introduction (Significant Figures, Measurement and Error, Measurement Uncertainty, Data Processing Methods), Basic Experiments (12 experiments), Design and Research Experiments (6 experiments), Modern and Comprehensive Experiments (14 experiments), and Comprehensive Research Experiments (4 experiments). The book aims to provide readers with a student physics laboratory manual that meets national measurement standards while being highly practical. The writing features of the book: Uncertainty. The treatment of "uncertainty" in this book strives to comply with the "Specifications" issued by the National Administration for Quality and Technology Supervision, enabling students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the country's "testing specifications." At the same time, considering the characteristics of physics laboratory teaching for students, the book seeks to integrate the "National Specifications" with specific experiments in undergraduate biology physics laboratory teaching. Data Processing Guidance. Since the book requires "data processing in physics experiments," especially the handling of "uncertainty," to align with "National Specifications," this can be challenging for lower-division undergraduates. Without proper guidance, achieving teaching objectives would be difficult. Therefore, the book provides detailed guidance on data processing for each experiment. Background Material. In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, some historical materials of physics experiments and the application of physics experiments in engineering technology should be appropriately introduced in teaching. This book introduces detailed historical background and the application knowledge of the experiment and related experiments in engineering technology at the beginning of each experiment, broadening students' horizons. Rich Design and Research Experiments. For "design and research experiments," the book does not merely provide "requirements and equipment" but offers more extensive and detailed materials, including theory and equipment, as well as usage and operational tips for experimental instruments, enabling students to design experiments reasonably. Practicality. The Ministry of Education requires that the lecture portion of physics experiments should not be excessive. Based on years of practice, we believe it is necessary to provide students with as much material as possible. The book provides detailed introductions to the theory, equipment, operation, and data processing of each experiment, facilitating students' preview and post-class data processing, truly achieving teaching objectives. Additionally, relevant references are provided for each experiment. English Titles and Key Terms. Currently, bilingual teaching in physics experiments is not yet very suitable, but some preliminary training can still be conducted. Therefore, the book provides a bilingual (Chinese-English) comparison and annotation for the names and keywords (terms) of each experiment.
