Features: This book is designed for junior and senior high school students to use in their daily learning and for simulation training before the Zhongkao and Gaokao exams. The book is divided into two parts: "Common Oral Sentence Patterns" and "Practical Situational Dialogues." The first part categorically lists common oral sentence patterns that appear in middle school textbooks over six years. The second part consists of situational dialogues written using these sentence patterns, based on scenarios from the textbooks. After each topic, there are also practice exercises for the oral sections of the Zhongkao and Gaokao exams (with answers provided). At the end of the book, there are the 1996 Gaokao written and oral exam papers. This book will undoubtedly help middle school students improve their oral communication skills and exam-taking techniques.
This book is a carefully compiled reference guide for improving middle school students' oral English skills, developed in accordance with the new middle school English teaching syllabus requirements and the new English textbooks, which emphasize a higher proportion of oral English. It is based on the examination formats for the Zhongkao and Gaokao, which assess oral English proficiency. The new textbooks highlight the principle of prioritizing listening and speaking skills, with an emphasis on strengthening reading and writing abilities after students have developed basic listening and speaking skills. The goal is to enhance students' ability to use English for communication.
In junior high school textbooks, fundamental oral expression content occupies more than half of the material, and in senior high school textbooks, oral expression content also accounts for a significant proportion. In line with the syllabus guidelines and changes in the new textbooks, the examination formats and focus areas for the Zhongkao and Gaokao have been adjusted accordingly. The examination principles emphasize assessing students' comprehensive abilities in mastering, understanding, and applying English. Oral assessment content has been added to the exam papers. Starting in 1996, a new question type called "Reading (B)" was introduced, specifically designed to assess oral expression skills. Additionally, oral components have been incorporated into other exam questions.
