Features: As the spring atmosphere grows stronger, the interest and opportunities for primary and secondary school students to engage in outdoor activities are increasing, while parents' concerns are also on the rise: worries that their children may not be able to handle the various dangers that could arise during such activities. Now, parents no longer need to worry so much. Beijing Publishing House has launched the books Emergency Preparedness Guide for Primary School Students and Emergency Preparedness Guide for Middle School Students ahead of the National Safety Education Day for Primary and Secondary School Students in China, which will greatly enhance the ability of students to properly handle emergencies and learn self-protection. According to Jin Lei, Secretary-General of the China Disaster Prevention Association and one of the main authors of the books, although both books are written by renowned domestic experts, the experts fully considered the special preferences of the target readership and, guided by experts from the Department of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education, tailored them specifically for primary and secondary school students. In terms of content, the books use real-life incidents that have occurred among primary and secondary school students; in terms of format, they adopt an interactive text-and-image style with one case per review, emphasizing lively and engaging presentation; in terms of style, they focus on practicality and operability, making the books easy for students to understand and learn at a glance. Experts have commented that these two books are truly a "must-have" for primary and secondary school students to deal with emergencies. According to the book editors, both books are edited and "selected" by the Department of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education and organized by a team of experts. In terms of layout, they intentionally increased the illustration function in the primary school edition and divided each disaster or emergency handling method into four sections: "Learn," "Remember," "Look," and "Think." In the middle school edition, they increased the textual content, interspersed explanatory illustrations, and divided each disaster or emergency handling method into four sections: "Knowledge Window," "Remember," "Wake-Up Alarm," and "Think It Through," occasionally inserting some common sense or points to note within the sections. In short, these two books aim to help primary and secondary school students learn to correctly understand nature and society while, unknowingly, acquiring the ability to protect themselves. Considering the actual economic of primary and secondary school readers, Beijing Publishing House has adopted a low-price marketing strategy for the two books, with both priced at four yuan each. Industry insiders believe that for a book with such practical content, printed in color and priced at less than 1.4 yuan per page, it is simply a great value. It is reported that Beijing Publishing House launched two adult versions of "Emergency Preparedness Guides" in November 2003, which immediately became top sellers on bestseller lists across the country. One of the books, titled Emergency Preparedness Handbook for Urban Residents, achieved a sales record of 50,000 first editions sold within a week, and its total sales have now reached nearly 90,000 copies. The other book, titled Essentials of Self-Saving in Emergencies, has been reprinted four times and has sold nearly 120,000 copies in total. Industry professionals in book distribution believe that with the successful market promotion experience from the adult versions and the strong backing of the Department of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education for the Emergency Preparedness Guide for Primary School Students and Emergency Preparedness Guide for Middle School Students, along with the launch date coinciding with the upcoming National Safety Education Day for Primary and Secondary School Students in China, these two books are bound to be a hit.
