Features: Since Mr. He Luting composed the Chinese-flavored "Pastoral Shepherd's Short" in 1934, basing his work on the melodies of folk songs or famous songs and then developing them through variation and pianistic treatment, this has become a fundamental approach in Chinese piano music composition for a considerable period afterward. Many excellent works have emerged during this time and are still frequently performed on stage. Since its establishment, the Central Conservatory of Music Press has published several works in this style, which have had a certain impact on society. Starting in the 1980s, as Chinese society gradually opened up, musical expression became more diverse, and creative styles became more individualistic, a trend that is reflected in the piano music of the past two decades. In recent years, a wide variety of piano sheet music has been published in China, but few of them fully reflect the achievements of contemporary Chinese piano music composition in the new era. This book, compiled by Professor Zou Xiangping of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, includes representative piano works created by 13 renowned Chinese composers in recent years, titled "Selected Contemporary Chinese Piano Pieces (After 1980)," with the aim of addressing the gaps in piano music publishing in China. The publication of this collection of scores is expected to promote the creation, performance, and research of Chinese piano compositions.
