Features: Medicinal animals refer to the whole or part of animals, their derivatives, secretions, excreta, pathological products, and processed products that can be used for medicinal purposes. The drugs produced by them are collectively referred to as animal drugs. For a long time, the general public and scientific researchers have conducted extensive exploration and research in this field, achieving many successful experiences. This book focuses on introducing the breeding, reproduction, and preliminary processing techniques of 19 medicinal animals. In addition, the breeding techniques of some important medicinal animals, such as Chinese softshell turtle, snakes, sika deer, muskrat, bear, donkey, earthworm, and bees, are relatively mature, and there are many technical materials and works available, which are easily accessible. To save space, this book will not elaborate on them. Moreover, there are many other medicinal animal species, such as Chinese pangolin, spiny frog, feather chicken, leech, and blister beetle, whose artificial breeding is still being explored. Some have already gained certain experience. Although the breeding of medicinal animals has a long history in China, it is relatively young as an industry. Many species are just beginning to be bred, and there is room for continuous improvement in all aspects. Technologically, there are inevitable shortcomings. Only by practicing according to local conditions, continuing research and exploration, and constantly summarizing and innovating can the breeding technology of medicinal animals be gradually improved.
