Guangxi is located in the subtropical region, with a mild climate, abundant rainfall, and a network of rivers. Ponds, small reservoirs, and large reservoirs are scattered across the province, making it rich in aquatic resources and providing favorable conditions for freshwater aquaculture. The local people have accumulated extensive experience in fishery production over the long term, with a long history in fish seedling harvesting, fry and fingerling culture, and pond fish farming. Since the founding of New China, especially since the early 1960s, with the gradual popularization and promotion of artificial breeding technology for domestic fish, the introduction of new superior varieties, and the continuous adjustment of freshwater aquaculture's species structure, freshwater aquaculture has been enriched with new content, significantly improving its yield and quality.
Guided by the principle of science and technology serving economic construction and based on the actual conditions of fishery production, the author has summarized years of research achievements and introduced advanced domestic and international technologies to compile this book. It provides detailed introductions to major pond-raised species, artificial breeding of key cultured fish, fry and fingerling culture and transportation, high-yield techniques and successful cases in adult fish farming, as well as the prevention and treatment of common fish diseases in ponds. The book includes 63 illustrations. It is rich in content, well-organized, easy to understand, and targets producers. It can also serve as a reference for aquaculture technicians and teaching staff.
