What are the symptoms of Down syndrome babies?

Patient's question:

I suspect the baby may have Down syndrome, as his facial features resemble those of Down syndrome. I don't know what the symptoms of Down syndrome are.

Doctor's answer:

Children with Down syndrome usually refer to congenital moderate intellectual disability. Generally, infants exhibit severe intellectual developmental delays, along with distinctive facial and physical abnormalities, such as a small head, flat occiput, thick neck, small palpebral fissures, slanted eyes, deep inner canthi, wide intercanthal distance, saddle nose, mouth often half-open, tongue often protruding, and short, thick fingers. Other features include broken palm creases and curved little fingers. 50% of these children also have congenital heart disease, digestive tract malformations, leukemia, and other conditions.
