Xiamen Shi Hui

Author: Dai Guanghua

Publish Date: 1999-08-01
Features: This book collects several poems by overseas Chinese returnees, overseas Chinese, Chinese overseas, and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, reflecting the nostalgia and longing for hometown and family, as well as the aspiration to serve the nation. Xiamen has long been a gateway for overseas Chinese and a bridge for Chinese traveling to Taiwan. Given its close ties with overseas Chinese, Chinese overseas, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwanese compatriots, it is natural for its literary creations to reflect this relationship. Previous similar books failed to include relevant works, but this book fills this gap, making it a significant feature and contribution. Some poetry clubs are even led by returnees or Taiwanese compatriots who have returned to Xiamen, giving the city's literary activities and poetry creation a distinct temporal, regional, and individual character that cannot be replicated or transplanted elsewhere. Today, appropriately selecting such poems helps unite the descendants of the Yellow River and contribute to the great cause of national reunification, as well as the revitalization of China. "The same mountains and rivers are blessed with beauty; later scholars need not avoid the former." This book leaves behind a precious literary legacy for history and future generations, and it will surely inspire later creators to produce even more and better poems!
