Features: Modern people value the quality of their lives. There are generally two ways to improve it: material and spiritual. Owning classic works and reading them can achieve both, or even transform one into the other. Reading classics is both an exploration and absorption of human wisdom and a nourishment and cultivation of one's own life. If young people widely read classic works from ancient and modern times at a young age and carefully nurture and build their spiritual homes, their lives will be filled with passion, meaning, and a higher realm, with a touch of elegance. With a deep reverence for people's spiritual realms and a longing for classic works, over the years, we have launched four sets of introductory guides to Chinese and foreign literary masterpieces, forming the "Peer Bird" series and presenting them to our readers. We have tentatively advocated an interactive reading wisdom, where authors, scholars, and readers engage in multiple interactions and exchanges. This approach has been well-received by a broad readership, with students from Beijing, Shanghai, Nanning, and other cities sending us insightful reflections on their reading experiences. Thus, we have created this "Interactive Commentaries on Masterpieces of Modern Chinese Literature." Reading is a personalized act—it is a dialogue between the reader, the text, history, and life—and it is also a multi-faceted, multi-layered, creative, and unique experience. Commentary is a product of personalized reading. In the history of Chinese literary criticism, the method of commentary has a long tradition. In just a few words, it can strike the essence; marginal notes and annotations can reveal the key points. Intuitive insights, sharp thinking, admiration, questioning, discussion, inspiration—these methods save on words, paint a vivid picture, and also lead to endless reflection and appreciation. The purpose of publishing this interactive commentary series is to advocate for diverse interpretations and multi-directional exchanges, while also respecting individual differences and expanding the space for innovative reading. The life of reading lies in innovation. The wisdom of publishing also lies in innovation. This is our pursuit.
