Features: In ancient Greek mythology, there are nine goddesses of arts and sciences—the Muses. When naming the domains they oversee, they gave the common name "Muse" to the second goddess in charge of music, expressing the goddesses' special fondness for music. Among artistic categories, women possess an extraordinary talent in music and dance. Their aesthetic pursuits in art, particularly the "performative" quality, often surpass those of men. Their musical sense, musical memory, interpretive abilities, and unique beautiful tones have attracted many composers to write numerous female choir works for them. Today in China, the development of female choirs has flourished like bamboo shoots after rain, which is related to the elevated status of women in social artistic life, the significant increase in the proportion of female students in art, normal, university, and secondary schools, and their advantages in musical "aesthetics" and "performance." The great pioneer Sun Yat-sen once remarked on women: "If women were missing from the world, there would be 50% less truth, 80% less goodness, and 100% less beauty." Women are the mediators of beauty, and beauty is the embodiment of women. Recently, I compiled two collections of female choir works—now I am compiling a sequel to provide more choices for the female vocal music world. May the splendid flowers of female choirs bloom vibrantly on our choral stages, allowing them to express their hearts through beautiful melodies and to adorn this beautiful life and praise this magnificent era.
