Features: With the diversification of people's demands for leisure and cultural life, choral music, as a form of musical art, has gained increasing popularity among the public. Nowadays, amateur choirs, especially senior choirs, are growing in number, with choirsing in cities and towns across the country. Through choral activities, not only is the leisure cultural life of senior friends enriched, but they also experience the charm of choral art, cultivate their temperament, and contribute to building a harmonious society. In early May 2005, the Beijing Senior Choir Competition, organized by the Beijing Committee on Ageing and the Choral Union of the China Music, was held to solemnly commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Fascist War and the War of Resistance against Japan. The competition aimed to inspire a wave of singing songs from the Anti-Fascist War, especially those from the War of Resistance against Japan, and to promote patriotic enthusiasm. From this perspective, choral art not only has a unifying effect on a choir but also on a nation and a people. To meet the needs of the public, we have specially edited and published two versions of "Choral Masterpieces from China and Beyond for the Elderly." Considering the characteristics of senior friends and the convenience of their use, the font size, layout, and binding are all different from general publications. In terms of themes and styles, we have strived for diversity, including choral pieces that reflect different eras and are full of a sense of the times, as well as those that depict revolutionary history and praise noble sentiments. There are also vibrant popular songs, elegant art songs, and rustic folk songs. Additionally, we have compiled "Performance Notes" after each choral piece for your reference.
