Features: The "Nine Yuan Series" is self-explanatory, with each book priced at nine yuan. Offering books at a low price to benefit readers has always been a means of promoting excellent works in the publishing industry and one of the traditions of People's Literature Publishing House. The purpose of editing and publishing the Nine Yuan Series is to inherit this fine tradition, allowing outstanding literary works to be better disseminated and shared as spiritual nourishment for contemporary literature in a broader range. The Nine Yuan Series includes twenty titles, all of which are outstanding middle-length novels that emerged in the past three decades, hence the name "Middle-Length Masterpieces." In the future, there will also be a second and third series, and other literary works will also be included in the Nine Yuan Series. It should be noted that some excellent middle-length novels that should have been included in the series were unfortunately excluded due to unresolved copyright or technical issues. We deeply regret this and ask for the understanding of our readers. Editorial Department of People's Literature Publishing House, December 2005
