Features: Record of a Floating Life is a semi-autobiographical work by Shen Fusheng, primarily recounting the deep and poignant love story between the author and his wife Chen Yun, as well as his observations and experiences during leisure and travels. The author wrote these words after the early death of his beloved wife, making it a work of mourning. The beauty of Record of a Floating Life lies in its core essence. There are many works about love written throughout history, both in China and abroad. Some, apart from providing some sensory stimulation and visual dazzle, leave behind only the vulgarity of a "food and sex" literature, leaving one wondering where the beauty lies. Others may move readers upon first reading, but upon closer and repeated reading, one cannot help but feel a sense of bitterness rising, unable to escape the shackles of orthodox literary traditions. Others are like the fragrance of a hidden orchid or the celestial melody, faintly audible yet lingering in the memory long after. Record of a Floating Life belongs to the latter category. The writing style of Record of a Floating Life is fresh, simple, and natural, without excessive ornamentation. At first glance, it seems ordinary and unremarkable, but upon closer reading, it stirs the soul and moves the spirit. The joys, sorrows, and vicissitudes of an ordinary person's life are all revealed in the gentle and flowing words. Mr. Yu Yibo once compared it to "a piece of pure crystal"—it shines brilliantly without the need for external embellishment, revealing only its own luminous colors; it is exquisitely refined without any trace of craftsmanship; it achieves perfection effortlessly, and beyond its brilliance, it seems to hold nothing more.
