Features: Since its inception, the violin has been beloved by people around the world for its beautiful tone and rich expressiveness. With a wide range of notes, pure, soft, and gentle sounds, the violin is well-suited to conveying emotions such as sorrow, passion, liveliness, elegance, brilliance, and dramatic changes. The violin is both a highly skilled solo instrument and a leading instrument in orchestral music. The modern form of the violin was established in the late 16th century. In the early days, it was primarily used for accompanying dances and songs. After the 17th century, as violin-making techniques improved, playing techniques developed, and musical compositions became increasingly diverse, different systems gradually formed and matured. Among them, a series of textbooks such as 60 Violin Exercises, Op. 45 by Wohlfahrt, 36 Violin Exercises, Op. 20 by Kayser, 36 Violin Exercises by Mazas, 24 Violin Exercises, Op. 37 by Dount, and 42 Violin Exercises by Kreutzer have been recognized for their high training value after decades of teaching practice and are widely used in countries around the world today. Unlike keyboard instruments, the violin requires players to have strong pitch discrimination skills. Beginners must undergo structured "solfège and ear training" to develop a correct sense of pitch. If they regularly check the pitch on a piano every day and practice persistently, they can gradually form a proper understanding of pitch. To provide students with the best learning environment and practice methods, our publishing house has prepared demonstration CDs featuring piano accompaniment for these six classic violin exercise books. Before practicing each exercise, students can first sing along, and once they are familiar with it, they can play along with the CD. To facilitate learning, each exercise begins with a preparatory bar, and the playing speed is moderate to slow, generally ranging between 40 and 52. Additionally, the comparative practice method of comparing the child's playing with the piano provides a visual way for parents without musical backgrounds to supervise their children's practice. Parents can clearly identify whether their child's pitch accuracy meets the requirements. This approach maximizes the avoidance of incorrect notes and pitch inaccuracies when children practice without a teacher, helping them develop good listening skills, pitch awareness, and accurate finger positioning in the early stages. It enables them to master the relative distances between fingers and their relationships, reducing detours in learning and significantly improving the speed and accuracy of left-hand playing, eliminating the need to search for notes on the fingerboard. By utilizing limited spare time, students can achieve the best practice results and lay a solid foundation for future learning. Franz Wohlfahrt (1833–1884) was a German violinist. His Op. 45 is a highly practical beginner's textbook. The methods, requirements, and steps for basic violin technique training are scientifically and systematically arranged. Each exercise is both interconnected and relatively independent. This exercise book contains 60 exercises. The first 30 focus on position exercises, while the last 30 cover position and shifting exercises. The keys are all within three accidentals. The bowing exercises are also comprehensive, including dynamics, slurred bows, spiccato, spiccato slurred bows, and flying bows, as well as mixed bowing techniques. Regarding fingerings, there are standard fingerings, dense fingerings, and extended fingerings. Shifting primarily focuses on positions I and III, with limited coverage of positions IV and V. Wohlfahrt is an invaluable textbook for beginners learning the violin.
