Features: Czerny (1791–1857), Carl, was an Austrian pianist and composer. Born on February 21, 1791, in Vienna, he passed away on July 15, 1857, in the same city. He initially studied piano with his father and later became a student of L. van. Beethoven from 1800 to 1803, while also delving into the teaching methods of Hummel and M. Clementi. At the age of 15, he became a piano teacher, with Franz Liszt being one of his students. Nearly a thousand of his works have been published, including piano pieces for teaching purposes, as well as masses, motets, requiems, symphonies, concertos, overtures, trios, quartets, choral works, and songs. He is the founder of the Vienna Piano School and is renowned for composing a vast number of teaching pieces. His works such as Exercises for Rapid and Fluent Playing, Preliminary Studies in Finger Technique, Art of Finger Technique, Left-Hand Studies, and Advanced Technique Studies are widely used. This collection consists of 24 etudes, all designed for left-hand practice, with each piece having a clear exercise objective. Generally speaking, most students' left hands are weaker than their right, so when encountering technical passages for the left hand, ornamental phrases, or sections requiring both hands to play together in a piece, they often struggle or fail to express the music with ease. Therefore, compiling this specialized collection for left-hand training holds particular significance.
