1. Newly discovered techniques are not necessarily advanced techniques; they are actually the content of basic teaching. The basic training content of the pipa is exceptionally rich and requires meticulous attention—today, it cannot be practiced for even a single day. "Replacing practice with playing" can no longer adapt to new trends.
2. The essence of technical training is aesthetic training. Without aesthetic training, how can beautiful music be created? The plucking and tapping technique embodies the beauty of yin and yang, while the tremolo technique embodies the beauty of curves. Concepts such as "unified sound," "the one-point theory," or allowing only one type of sound and method to exist all violate aesthetic principles. Technical training should fully pay attention to and develop the three major characteristics of the pipa—right-hand yin-yang beauty, curve beauty, and left-hand virtual-real beauty.
3. Emphasize the principle of holistic training. The independence of the index and thumb, the training of plucking and tapping and tremolo techniques, as well as the standardized training of right-hand and left-hand techniques, should all be practiced simultaneously and effectively. Any localized, exaggerated special training methods and techniques should not be excessively adopted in the early stages of teaching.
4. Without prioritizing hand shape, flexibility, relaxation, or aesthetics, pursuing intensity alone is the most serious problem in basic training. Intensity is a quantitative term for technique, while dynamics is an artistic treatment category with philosophical significance. Intensity and dynamics cannot be equated; confusing the two concepts will lead music to become superficial.
5. This book aims to provide some new training methods and techniques, and the content arrangement is not in the systematic sequence of a technical tutorial.
