Selected Poems of Yuan Shi (Volume 3)

Author: Gu Sili (Qing Dynasty)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: November 1, 2002
Features: I have previously compiled Yuan Dynasty poetry, totaling over two hundred works, which have been circulating in the world for a long time. After the Wanning period, I extensively searched and collected, exhausting both my physical and mental strength. I left no stone unturned in the libraries of Wu's collectors, preserving all remaining manuscripts. In the autumn of the Yiyu year, I was summoned to the capital to compile and select poetry from the four dynasties. This gave me the opportunity to thoroughly explore the secret manuscripts of the imperial collection, personally copying and preserving them. In the autumn of the Yimei year, I took leave to return home. I traveled south along the Xiang River and Chuan River, and north to Songshan and Tai Mountain, seeking lost works, and gathered even more. After my travels, I retired to my cottage, combining the twenty years of collections I had acquired and reorganizing them. The final collection consists of approximately one hundred and sixty households. The selected works from various collections, as well as poems found in mountain and geographical records, unofficial histories, folk tales, calligraphy and painting scrolls that contained fewer than five poems, were compiled into the Gu Collection, totaling over three thousand authors. This has become a grand collection of Yuan Dynasty poetry. The handwriting is rough, and I wanted to have all the legends and texts published, but I fell short of the strength. I first published the hundred works to the world, and in the future, I will continue to complete the entire book to create a magnificent work. This way, the essence of the Yuan Dynasty will not be lost or obscured, and my half-life of painstaking effort will not be in vain.
In the fifty-ninth year of the Kangxi reign, the eighth month of the autumn of the Gengzi year, Changzhou Gu Sili wrote at Xiuyan Cottage.
