Features: Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are the core and central components of the United States' 1975 "Education for All Handicapped Children Act," dedicated to ensuring that all children with disabilities receive appropriate education, training, and services. The Peabody Developmental Motor Scales, Second Edition (PDMS-2) and its accompanying training programs are specifically designed for IFSPs or IEPs and are now widely used in the United States and have a broad impact worldwide. The PDMS-2 was developed by U.S. experts in developmental assessment and intervention therapy and is an excellent assessment tool for infants and toddlers' motor development. The scale consists of six subtests, including reflexes, posture, mobility, object manipulation, grasping, and visual-motor integration, with a total of 249 items. The test results are ultimately expressed as developmental quotients for gross motor, fine motor, and total motor, among others. As a specialized motor development scale, it has unique advantages in the selection of assessment items, operability and ease of use of the method, and clarity of scoring standards. Unlike other developmental scales, this one was specifically designed for children with disabilities from the outset, adopting a classification system for motor function from basic to advanced levels and considering the characteristics of various motor disorders, such as the ability to test the function of both sides of the body separately. Therefore, the scale is not only suitable for evaluating motor developmental delays but also for assessing motor function in children with cerebral palsy and for evaluating pediatric motor rehabilitation. What makes it particularly noteworthy is that it comes with a motor development intervention training program, which allows for the establishment of training goals and plans based on the assessment results. The motor training program is detailed and specific, reflecting a rehabilitation philosophy centered on the family and the child. This program is not only highly professional but also easy to learn and use. It can be used not only for clinical research on pediatric developmental intervention but also for the promotion of appropriate technology at the grassroots level. China has only recently begun to pay attention to pediatric developmental intervention work and urgently needs a standardized and comprehensive motor development assessment and training program. The introduction of the Peabody Developmental Motor Scales and Training Program will help promote the healthy development of clinical and research in pediatric developmental intervention in China. This book comprehensively covers the design and implementation of effective motor training programs, the basic principles of motor learning, and the introduction of training and evaluation units.
