Features: With the development of society, economy, and culture, as well as the growing demand for healthcare services, the professional scope of nursing has expanded to a broad field of disease prevention, health maintenance, and care. Nursing care is gradually moving from hospitals to communities, families, and nursing homes, extending to the entire life cycle of human health and illness. To adapt to these changes in healthcare service demands, the functions of the nursing profession, the responsibilities of nurses, and the service models and scope of nursing must also be adjusted accordingly. Against this backdrop, the editorial committee of this textbook has revised the structure of nursing education materials and decided to introduce a new course on health and nursing for key populations, instead of separately setting up pediatric nursing and obstetric nursing. Considering the current adaptability issues in teaching, this textbook is still divided into three parts: health and nursing for children, health and nursing for women, and health and nursing for the elderly. Based on the special needs of key populations in health care and the trends of clinical nursing development, the content of the textbook has been appropriately increased to focus on health and nursing for key populations. In the disease care section, a significant adjustment has been made to the layout. This textbook is divided into two main parts based on systematic diseases. First, it briefly introduces the basic knowledge of the system diseases, including basic etiology, pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, and key treatment points, to give students a clear understanding of each disease. Then, it comprehensively introduces the common nursing issues of this system based on the principles of holistic nursing. This approach differs from introducing nursing knowledge by disease units, as it aims to reduce unnecessary repetition of similar nursing issues within the same system.
