Features: Small carvings made from bamboo materials, which are both decorative and practical, are commonly referred to as bamboo utensils. The art of bamboo carving has a long history. The earliest existing artifact is a dragon-patterned lacquered bamboo spoon handle unearthed from the Ma Wang Du Han Tomb in Changsha. This piece features smooth cutting techniques, vivid dragon designs, and excellent craftsmanship, indicating that bamboo carving technology in China had reached a high level as early as the Western Han Dynasty. During the Tang Dynasty, bamboo carving art flourished, and the (liuqing) technique began to gain popularity. In the Song Dynasty, bamboo utensils saw further development. From actual artifacts, it can be seen that the carvings of figures, landscapes, flowers, and birds were meticulous and exquisite, with details as fine as threads, ranking among the finest in the world. The Ming and Qing dynasties marked the mature period of Chinese bamboo carving art. Before the Ming Dynasty, there were few bamboo utensils and renowned artisans passed down. After the mid-Ming Dynasty, famous bamboo carvers emerged one after another. In the Jinling (now Nanjing) and Jia ding (now Shanghai) regions, bamboo carving schools emerged, transforming it into a specialized art form. At the same time, bamboo utensils shifted from practical items to artworks for appreciation and collection.
