Features: Emily Bront?, born in 1818 and died in 1848, was a renowned British poet and novelist, and the sister of Charlotte Bront?. Wuthering Heights is her only novel, yet it established her place in both British literary history and world literary history. Wuthering Heights tells the story of the Earnshaw family of Wuthering Heights and the Linton family of Thrushcross Grange. Heathcliff is an orphan adopted by the old Earnshaw, and he is hated by the old Earnshaw's son Hindley, but his daughter Catherine loves him. Although Catherine deeply loves Heathcliff, she cannot express her feelings due to the difference in status. Heathcliff leaves in anger and swears revenge. When Heathcliff returns, Catherine has married Edgar Linton, the master of Thrushcross Grange. Soon after, Hindley, Catherine, Isabella, and Edgar die one after another. Heathcliff then enslaves Hindley's son Hareton and Edgar's daughter Catherine, and even harbors hatred for the son he had with Isabella, Linton. Although Heathcliff achieves his desire for revenge, he does not feel happy, and thus ends his own life on a stormy night, meeting the Catherine he is deeply attached to in the afterlife. Additionally, the writing style of this book is quite unique, often narrated by different characters, so readers should pay attention while reading.
